June is National Smile Month, so start flashing that smile to the world! The nationwide campaign intends to spread three important messages:
  • Brush teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
  • Schedule regular dental visits
  • Be smart with food choices
The healthier your teeth and gums, the happier you will be with your smile. It’s time to take action this month and set out for better oral health now and into the future.

Care About Your Oral Care

What’s the first thing you need for pursuing better oral health? It’s the right attitude. You need to understand why oral hygiene is important, and you need to have the dedication to follow-up with dentist appointments and morning/nightly oral hygiene routines. Remember these tips:
  • Brush twice a day/two minutes each
  • Floss at least once a day
  • Use fluoride toothpaste
We can’t monitor your daily oral care or dietary habits, but your teeth will reveal if oral care has been a top priority. If your diet consists of highly processed and sugary food and beverages and you have been neglecting your teeth, tooth decay may be present.

Communicate With Our Santa Cruz Dentist Office

Notify us any time you believe something is wrong with your teeth and/or gum tissue. If you notice abnormal signs, such as a toothache, sensitivity to temperature change and bleeding, sore gums, you need to contact our dental practice as soon as possible.
These could be symptoms related to tooth decay, gingivitis or possibly gum disease. A tooth can only take so much before it gives out. That’s why we stress the importance of at-home maintenance and regular visits for cleanings and exams.
It’s a breath of fresh air, literally (bad breath is a direct result of bad oral hygiene), when your teeth are well cleaned and healthy.
